This project involved creating an original, interactive light for the comfortably retired demographic (aged 60-70), coined as 'Amortals' or 'Flat Agers'. These individuals, characterised by active lifestyles and a desire for meaningful social interaction, defy traditional age stereotypes. Inspired by the 'Essential Shapes' trend, the initial design focused on circular forms, celebrating physical interaction through movement, light, presence, and scale.

This approach was aimed at breaking stereotypes and resonating with the Amortals' attitudes. The development centered on crafting a functional proof of concept. The result was 'Two Bodies, Together, as One'—an interactive, wall-mounted light symbolizing the connection between entities. It features three states: disconnected, harmony, and bound, promoting increased physicallity. This full-scale proof of concept, was constructed from various machined parts, showcasing its potential in enhancing social gatherings and intimate settings.
